Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

Thursday, September 25th, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the new Mount Hope Community Center – 55 Townsend Avenue, Bronx NY

Last year, our Keynote performer/speaker was “La Bruja”, Caridad De La Luz, music was provided by DJ Spin Bad, food and refreshments donated by area vendors and restaurants.

"Promises Made, Promises Kept for Youth and Families in the Community"

the Community Center project will allow Mount Hope to offer an expansion of youth and economic development program services for a growing population of immigrant youth and adults living below 200% of Federal poverty income levels in the Bronx. Mount Hope is among one of the 1st non-profits in the city to incorporate Sustainable/Green Building design into the project; and the center will be the 1st non-profit in the Bronx, and possibly the city, to use New Market Tax Credits. This financing structure is a testament to Mount Hope creativity, savvy use of our assets, and aggressive seizing of new financing opportunities.

Golf Outing

The Golf Classic annual fundraiser and many come out for a leisurely day of golf and to support our innovative programs. Last year, we held our first Golf Outing, a great success at the Dunwoodie Golf Course

Legislative Breakfast

The Legislative Breakfast serves as a state-of-the-union address for the Mount Hope Housing Company. Previous years have drawn over 300 community members, business owners, and elected officials.

Echo Park

In 1996, Mount Hope Housing Company established the Drug Free and Proud to Be Day at Echo Park in the Bronx. The festival was conceived as an effort to transform the drug-ridden Echo Park into a safe and positive environment for Bronx youth. It has since become one of Mount Hope’s central celebrations and has received an abundance of support from community residents and local businesses. Past sponsors have included Fidelis Care, Councilwomen Maria Baez, State Assemblymember Luis Diaz, Wellcare Health Plan, and Harrow Lumber.

Jazz Fest

Held in July, Jazz Fest is a wonderful evening at Echo Park for Jazz enthusiasts.

Black History Month Celebration

Annually, in February during Black History Month, Mount Hope celebrates the many accomplishments of the Black men and women who have set forth ground for the generations to follow.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration

Annually, in September, Mount Hope celebrates the many accomplishments of the Hispanic men and women in a community rich with Hispanic Heritage.

Thanksgiving Fest

During the Thanksgiving holiday season, Mount Hope partners with organizations to provide over 100 meals to feed low income families and children during the holiday. The event is usually held on a Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day.

Winter Fest 

The Mount Hope Housing Company’s youth program Project READY (Resources for Employment and Academic Development) will be preparing for its 8th Annual Winter Festival in December 2008, which provides an opportunity for the predominately low-income and often underprivileged Mount Hope community youth to receive toys and gather in celebration of the Holiday Season. Every year, Mount Hope solicits toys from companies and manages to give-away only a portion to a community over populated with youth. Mount Hope’s Winter Festival celebration takes place on a decorated street block and is focused on uniting the residents of the local community. With live onstage performances, food, warm drinks, Santa, and a toy give-away, Mount Hope, contributors and sponsors hope to reduce the burden sometimes created by this hectic and financially demanding holiday season.
