Employment Services

Mount Hope helps community residents find permanent employment, leading to greater economic self-sufficiency for individuals and for the community at large. Our Employment Service offers job readiness, counseling and placement programs customized to the specific needs of our community. Our open-door policy means that we work with everyone, serving men and women, the working poor, seniors, and adolescents seeking training, education and early employment. Childcare counseling and referrals are also available. Counseling over 1,300 people, Mount Hope has placed more than 700 individuals in full and part time employment in the community.

Job Resource Center

Computers, faxes, typewriters and copiers are available for job-hunting use. Job listings from a wide variety of sources, a wealth of information on the job market plus GED, SAT and software information are on hand to aid the jobseeker.

Job Fairs

Annual event draws a thousand prospective employees and several dozen corporations, local businesses and city and state offices with positions to be filled.

Employer Open Houses

Potential employers meet with job readiness graduates on a monthly basis to fill positions and to assist with job-hunting techniques.

Job Readiness Workshops

Highlights the basic skills all employers seek as well as teaches preparation for the constant changes in today's workplace; how to deal with issues such as increased competition and the need for higher education and certifications. Covers resumes, applications, interviews, job search, and job culture.

Work Internships

Participants gain work references and are able to try out different work environments, working with supervision on a regular work schedule.

Follow Through: Post Placement Services

Mount Hope maintains contact with both employer and employee to assure that problems surfacing during early employment receive immediate attention.

Mount Hope works in alliance with several organizations serving the Bronx, including the MBD Community Housing Corporation, the Mid-Bronx Senior Citizens Council and the Phipps CDC, West Farms, to find jobs for Bronx residents.
