About Mount Hope
The Mount Hope Housing Company is a 501 (c)(3) community development organization providing affordable housing, youth services, employment, job training, real estate development, and asset building programs to residents of the Mount Hope community in the Bronx. Mount Hope aims to develop, educate, and empower community residents while invigorating and investing in the neighborhood infrastructure and physical space. Mount Hope is a premier nonprofit in the “business” of community development fostering community growth and sustainability.
Volunteers are vital to the success and development of Mount Hope Housing Company, Inc. and the various services it offers to the community. We welcome you to be a part of Mount Hope's mission of creating a revitalized, sustainable community in the Bronx by becoming a volunteer. There are many opportunities for volunteers in Mount Hope's offices and programs.
Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
Conduct financial literacy seminars with the Asset Building Program
Tutor or mentor youth in Mount Hope’s youth program, Project R.E.A.D.Y.: Provide homework help (ages 6-10), assist with SAT and GED Test preparation (ages 14-17, 18-22), and technology training for all ages
Assist at our community and recreational events
Provide office support in the following areas: Development and Communications, Legal Advisory and Administrative Help>
Grant Writing Internship
Currently seeking a Grantwriter who will help the Development Department secure grants from funders. The position is a full or part-time position depending on your availability.Duties
- Conduct research for programmatic is operational grants
- Assist with the preparation of grant proposals
- Help to update grant calendar and formulate ranking system in reference to grantmakers
Qualifications
- An undergraduate or graduate student
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher
- Experience writing grants preferred

Event Planning Internship
Currently seeking a part-time of full time Event Planning Intern for the Development Department. The position is a full or part-time position depending on your availability.
Duties
- Help plan, execute, and manage events
- Track relevant event budgets
- Create marketing materials, press kits, and press releases
- Solicit for monetary and in-kind donations
- Maintain RSVP lists
Qualifications
- An undergraduate or graduate student
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience writing grants preferred

Prospect Researcher / Internship
Currently seeking a part-time of full time Prospect Researcher for the Development Department. The position is a full or part-time position depending on your availability.
Duties
- Conduct research on Mount Hope constituents
- Conduct the stewardship of individuals and grantmakers
- Provide recommendations for improving cultivation strategies
- Track cultivation activity
Qualifications
- The intern must exercise confidentiality, be very detailed, and organized
- Must know Microsoft Office
- Undergraduate student or recent graduate
- Excellent verbal communication skills

Public Relations and Marketing Internship
Currently seeking a part-time of full time Public Relations Intern for the Development Department. The position is a full or part-time position depending on your availability.
Duties
- Design invitations and fliers for fundraisers and friend-raisers
- Draft Mount Hope’s 2008 newsletter
- Draft press releases and media advisories
- Create presidential news flashes and letters updating our community, board, and supporters on “What’s New” at Mount Hope
- Post events on community boards to build awareness
Qualifications
- Implement the use of one of the following design programs: Quark, Adobe, and Microsoft Publisher
- Must know Microsoft Office
- Undergraduate student or recent graduate
- Excellent verbal communication skills
